Just around the corner

I understand that there was a problem with the trip tracker link that I posted earlier. It is now fixed.

Westward Ho! with Southern Cruisers

I remember when this trip was in the planning stages and the talk was that in 12 weeks we will be heading out west. Time sure does fly. Now in less than 12 days we will be embarking on a huge motorcyle trip. It's really hard to conceive that we will be traveling over 5000 miles on a motorcyle in less than 2 weeks. And to top it off, I have convinced 5 other people to tag along with me!

We have done the math and with the increasing cost of gas, this trip will cost about $2500.00. But this is truly the trip of a lifetime and it is worth every penny to the folks that are going. Those of you that ride might understand this; 2 weeks on the road, on a bike, and no work at all. Wow! Those of you that don't ride might also say Wow! when someone mentions staying on a bike for two weeks.

Not even one hotel reservation in advance. We just ride until the group gets tired, then we find a place. That might seem a little hap-hazard to some, but when you take a trip and don't plan every tiny detail, it is amazing how relaxing it is. And some of the greatest stories come out of events that are not planned.

Just an idea: the Grand Canyon, painted desert, 4 corners, the Rocky Mountains, the Badlands in South Dakota.

Based on the changes in temperature, and the places we are visiting, we will be traveling through all 4 seasons even though it is July. Think about that for a minute. That means that we must also pack cold weather gear (for the Rockys) even though it will be in the 90's and then 100's when we leave Alabama and travel through Arizona. I truly can't wait.

If there is a remote chance that anyone else wants to join us, now is the time. We're not getting any younger.
